Report of Two days National Seminar on “Facilitating Learning Experiences Through ICT”Sponsored by NAAC, Bangalore
March 5-6th 2012
 
 
A National Seminar on “Facilitating Learning Experiences Through ICT” was organized by Internal Quality Assurance cell, Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial College of Education, Dhudike(Moga) sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore on March 5-6th 2012. The main objective of the seminar was to synthesize and integrate the use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research and also to explore the contributions of Academicians and Educationists for the enhancement of quality education.

Dr. (Mrs.) Tripta Sharma extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and delegates. She also introduced the resource persons by highlighting their academic qualifications and other achievements in the field of education. Dr. K.M. Rastogi, Director, National Institute of Technical Teachers training and Research, Chandigarh inaugurated the seminar by lightening the lamp, accompanied by Dr. Sunil Dutt, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, Dr. R.L. Behl, Principal, Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, Member Management Dr. (Mrs.) Om Prabha Sachdeva, Dr. (Mrs.) Tripta Sharma, Principal, L.L.R.M. college of Education, Dhudike (Moga).

Dr. K.M. Rastogi, Director, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, in his key note address spoke on the importance of ICT in the modern era. He acquainted the delegates with the barriers in the use of ICT and also put forward suggestions to overcome the same. Next speaker was Dr. Sunil Dutt, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh. He expressed his views on the usage of ICT for professional development of Teachers of higher Education with the help of live demonstration of CAI. Dr. R.L. Behl, Principal, Aurobindo college of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana shared his views on immense benefits of ICT in educational. Seminar was followed by Souvenir releasing ceremony by chief guest Dr. K.M. Rastogi, Member management, Dr. (Mrs.) Om Prabha Sachdeva, Dr. (Mrs.) Tripta Sharma, Principal, Worthy dignitaries and faculty members were presented mementos to all the eminent personalities.

In the afternoon session, papers were presented by delegates and scholars from different fields of education who acquaint the audience about the advantages of ICT in contemporary times. Dr. Mukesh Arora, Fellow Panjab University, Chandigarh was the guest of honour . First day seminar culminated with the thanks giving speech of Mr. Sandeep Kataria, Convener IQAC and National Anthem by college students.

The second day of the seminar again started with the lightening of lamp by the Principal and other resource persons. The guest of honour of this eventful morning were Dr. Amit kauts. Mr. G.S. Ghali, Ms. Harpinder Kaur. The seminar was initiated by Dr. Amit kauts, Ex-Dean, Education faculty, GNDU, Amritsar. He stressed upon the use of ICT in the educational process to make it more interesting, easier and effective. His meaningful information about the application of ICT laid stress upon its use in administration. Next Resource person was Mr. G.S. Ghali, HOD, Department of Computer Science, D.M. college, Moga. His pictorial presentation about the advancement of technology through the ages and a number of power point presentations depicting ICT- in facilitation of education all programmers were appreciated by all. Taking the theme of seminar further Ms. Harpinder Kaur, Arya college, Ludhiana light on potentials and limitations of ICT and the role it can play in the rural areas of the country.

The valedictory session of this two day seminar was performed by Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal, BCM college of Education, Ludhiana. His golden words made the aware of the over-indulgence and over- dependence on technology. He also cautioned how it has intruding our mind, over personnel lines and above all eroding our moral values.

The seminar was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. (Mrs.) Tripta Sharma.
